3D PRINTING
A user on imgur posted a cool story showing how he made a custom 3D printed prosthetic for his partially amputated foot. He 3D scanned his feet, modelled his new foot in Blender, then printed it out using a flexible filament.

AUGMENTED REALITY
Police officers in the UK have been testing the use of Microsoft Hololens augmented reality for scenes of crimes. The system allows investigators to 3D scan entire rooms, and place virtual markers and notes down, so they can then revisit and analyse everything, without having the physically be there.

ROBOTICS
Yamaha's autonomous motorbike riding robot, MOTOBOT, has successfully achieved a new milestone in a recent round of tests, racing around a track, and reaching speeds of up to 200km/h.

Cassinelli Alvaro also showed a funny video of a glitch in a face tracking robot, which actually turns away from the people looking at it. Funny how in certain situations we project human characteristics on robots.

Another delivery company, this time in Graz, Austria, has began using autonomous delivery robots to assist mail workers when they're out making deliveries.

DRONES
Delft Dynamics are back with another Drone Catcher video, this time demonstrating how the drone can now automatically track other flying objects, before a human operator shoots a netgun to remove it from the sky.

MACHINE LEARNING
A user on youtube has uploaded a video showing off what seems to be a neural network system that takes existing photos of faces, and generates realistic made up faces from them.
This reminds me of Gibson's Idoru novel. Imagine future AI that have their own unique faces, indistinguishable from other humans, yet they don't exist phsyically.

Walmart also began using AI bots to automatically scan the shelves of their stores, determining what stock levels are, and spotting incorrect prices and missing labels etc.

VIDEOS
Two documentaries this week. The first by Reason, covers George Hotz and his goal to create a sub $1000 device that can turn any car into a self driving car.

The next by vpro is a documentary about the future of farming, and specifically vertical farms and their potential to grow large amounts of food in dense cities.

THIS WEEK ON NODE
I showed off a new prototype battery backpack for the Pi Zero this week, which simply screws onto the tiny computer to give it a few hours of portable battery life.
Alright, that's it for this episode. Just wanted to let you know some new products will be going in the shop in the next few days so check that out. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
